This week’s photo is from my shoot with the Wallis Family – I love the way that their cat protects little Anthony!!
I got to work a little early (way back in July last year), and on my way to the coffee shop to get my early morning fix, I took a look over at the city hall. It looked absolutely stunning with the sun starting to rise in the background. I had to go back to my car and fetch my camera – I’m really glad that I did, I think that this turned out quite nicely in fact. It would have been a bit better with the help of a tripod, but for a quick handheld pic, I was quite impressed with myself.
After taking the pic (and having my coffee), I went up to the verandah on the top floor of our office block and took a few more photos of the city hall from a different angle, and the moon (just for good measure). I must definitely take my camera with me more often to the office – even if all I do is wander around the streets of Cape Town during my lunch hour
I spent some time in Durban visiting family in July last year. While I was there, I managed to squeeze in a few shoots, which made my heart extremely happy! This is the Wallis family – when Anthony was just 6 months old.
It’s a few months later now, and he is now walking around, and terrorising their cat!
I was excited to meet this little family, as I am friends with Alex’s sister and all I had heard for months was “squishy nephew this” and “squishy nephew that” – Anthony lived up to all my expectations of being this gorgeous squishy child! I met the family at home, as this is definitely the best way to ensure that little ones feel comfortable – familiar surroundings, any toy their heart desires, and in Anthony’s case, a cat to terrorise the moment he walked within arms reach!
I hope you all enjoy the photos from their shoot!
I joined a whole bunch of local photographers in Franschhoek on Sunday 2 October to take part in Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk. Franschhoek is about an hour’s drive from home, and when I left it was overcast, but dry. By the time I got to our starting point, it was drizzling – not ideal when wanting to walk around for 2 hours and take photos! I decided to take part in the walk anyway, and my plan for rain was simply to take refuge in the nearest coffeeshop! By then end of the two hour walk, I was really glad that I persevered through the rain, as I got a few shots that I was really proud of. I hope you like them too!
Week 30′s photo is taken from an event I covered during the week. I really liked the way this pic turned out!
On Monday morning, I had every intention of taking my DSLR with me as I knew that I would have about 90 minutes after work before my next appointment. I took a look at the weather report, saw that rain was predicted for the entire day, and decided that the camera would simply get wet, and left it at home.
You can imagine my horror when the rain cleared up around mid-afternoon, and I now was faced with the most beautiful sunset during the 90 minute window after work. I decided that rather than spending the time being upset that I didn’t have my camera with me, I would make the best of what I did have with me, and pulled out my cellphone. Now, I don’t have an iPhone (if anyone wants to buy me one, let me know), but I do have a 5Mp camera on my Blackberry. I spent the next 40 minutes or so wandering up and down the beach taking some of the most breathtaking photos of a sunset that I have ever taken!
I know that I won’t be able to print these on canvas, but they would probably be able to be blown up to about 5×7″ should I want to display them, which is definitely better than where I would have been had I sulked about not having my camera with me!
I am very excited to announce that you can earn your way to a free photoshoot with me! That’s right – a FREE photoshoot!
How?? You may ask…
Simple! For every person you refer to me (who actually books a shoot, of course), you will earn a R50 credit which can be used for prints or the shoot itself.
